Classroom Buzzer Game

Run a fast team review with a shared-screen buzzer. Students or the teacher can press one of the large team buttons, or use keys 1–4 on a shared keyboard. The first buzz locks the round until the teacher scores or resets it.

This is a single-device classroom tool, not a remote multi-device buzzer. Keyboard and screen access should be equally fair for all teams.

Game setup

Rename teams below if needed. Names and scores are kept only while this page is open.

Tap your team’s buzzer

Ready for the next question.

Ready to buzz!

Ask a question, then select a team button.

Accessibility: team selection also works with buttons and the 1–4 number keys, except when typing in a name field. The display announces the winning team. Review questions should be provided by the teacher.

How to use the classroom buzzer

  • Select two to four teams and optionally rename them.
  • Ask a review question. When teams are ready, let one representative press their team's button or numbered key on the shared device.
  • The first button pressed locks the round and shows which team buzzed first.
  • If the team answers correctly, award one point. Otherwise select No point / Next round.
  • Repeat for the rest of your questions. The score remains visible throughout the activity.

Fair and accessible classroom use

This is a single-device tool. It does not connect separate student phones or computers, and it cannot compare presses over different networks. For fairness, have the teacher observe who responds first, rotate representatives, or use the shared keyboard only when each team can reach it equally. Students who cannot press a button can answer verbally, point, or appoint a representative.

The game keeps team names and scores in the open browser session and does not automatically save them. Use generic team labels when the activity is projected publicly.

Frequently asked questions

Can every student buzz from their own device?

No. This is a shared-screen classroom tool. It does not connect or synchronize separate phones, laptops, or tablets.

Can I rename teams and change the number of teams?

Yes. Choose two to four teams, then type a label for each. Changing the team count starts a new game and resets scores.

What happens after the first team buzzes?

The team buttons lock. The teacher can award one point, choose no point, or reset the buzzer for another question.

Are team names and scores saved?

No. They stay in the current page session. Keep the tab open until the activity ends.
