Please read this notice to understand how the website and its browser-based learning activities may handle information.
1. Scope and contact
This Privacy Policy describes the information practices of ClassroomGames.org (“Classroom Games,” “we,” “our,” or “the website”) when people visit our website, use its browser-based tools, or contact us. It applies to the public site and its educational activities; linked external websites have their own policies.
For questions or privacy requests, email contact@classroomgames.org. The separate Children’s Privacy page explains important information for parents and teachers.
2. Information you choose to share
You can use the public games without opening a student account. Some games let you type names, vocabulary lists, team labels, questions, or other content. The current game interfaces use that input to run activities locally in your browser rather than sending the text to a Classroom Games game-account database.
If you email us, we receive the sender address, message, attachments, and information you provide voluntarily. Please avoid sending student records, full names of children, passwords, precise locations, or other sensitive personal information. A teacher can use initials or group labels when possible.
3. Information generated by site visits
As with most websites, hosting and security systems may process technical information when your browser requests a page. This can include an IP address, approximate network location, device or browser type, requested URL, date and time, referring page, error details, and security signals. Such information may be recorded in server or security logs.
Technical logs are different from the text entered into a browser-only classroom game. An IP address or another persistent identifier can be personal information under applicable privacy laws, including children’s privacy rules. We aim to use technical information for delivering pages, preventing abuse, debugging problems, and keeping the website operational.
4. Cookies, local storage and caching
WordPress, website hosting, caching, security features, and administrator sign-in can involve cookies or similar browser storage. Cookies may support login sessions, preferences, page delivery, or security. Visitors should not assume that a page has no cookies simply because a game does not require registration.
For an explanation of cookie categories, browser controls, and possible future advertising cookies, see our Cookie Policy. A policy page is not itself a consent tool. Where applicable law requires consent before nonessential cookies or tracking, appropriate controls must be provided before those technologies are used.
5. Analytics, advertising and third parties
At this stage, our classroom tools are designed to function without student accounts, and we do not use answers typed into a game to build advertising profiles. Advertising, analytics, embedded media, or social sharing tools may be added, changed, or removed as the website develops. A third-party service can collect identifiers through its own scripts if such features are enabled.
We will need to review vendor settings and update this policy before enabling new advertising or tracking technology, especially on child-directed content. If Google advertising is introduced, its privacy disclosures, region-specific consent requirements, and child-directed treatment rules must be considered. Learn more about the broader policy in our Children’s Privacy notice.
6. Why information may be processed
We may process limited technical data as needed to serve requested pages, secure the site, prevent misuse, investigate errors, and administer WordPress. When you email us, we use your message to answer inquiries, correct problems, or address rights requests. We do not require children to disclose unnecessary personal details in exchange for access to the listed games.
Where European or UK data protection laws apply, possible legal bases may include legitimate interests in operating and securing the website, steps taken in response to a contact request, compliance with legal duties, and consent when required for optional tracking. The appropriate basis depends on the specific data and processing activity.
7. Service providers and disclosures
Website hosting, email delivery, security, caching, and WordPress administration providers may process information on our behalf to provide their services. Their systems may operate in different countries and apply separate access controls and retention arrangements.
We do not intentionally publish contact messages or disclose children’s game answers to advertisers. We may share information when necessary to investigate abuse, protect rights, comply with legal obligations, or respond to a valid lawful request. We do not intentionally sell personal data obtained through our game interfaces.
8. Retention and data security
Game input generally remains in the open browser page and can disappear when the page is refreshed or closed. Some tools may offer printing or browser-based download functions, and any file you save remains under your control. Emails and technical logs may be kept for the time reasonably necessary for support, site security, dispute handling, legal compliance, and operational purposes.
Retention periods can vary with hosting and email settings, and we cannot promise that all logs disappear immediately after a request. No online service can guarantee absolute security. If a message involves sensitive personal data, contact us so we can review appropriate next steps.
9. Children’s information
Our content can be used in classrooms that include children under 13. We do not offer public student profiles, direct messaging, or registration through the games. Teachers and families should supervise young users and avoid entering identifiable information. See the separate Children’s Privacy notice for parent requests, tracking concerns, and age-related safeguards.
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA) and its amendments may place additional requirements on operators of child-directed services. Those duties can apply to persistent identifiers and third-party services, not just visible forms. Our privacy notices do not replace the need to configure a compliant website.
10. Your privacy choices and requests
Depending on your location, you may have rights to ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access or correction, ask for deletion, object to some processing, or withdraw consent for certain activities. Rights and exceptions differ under applicable law.
Send a request to contact@classroomgames.org with the page or issue involved and enough information for us to locate the relevant record. We may take reasonable steps to verify that you are entitled to make the request without asking for more information than needed. If you have concerns about browser cookies, you may also review browser controls and our Cookie Policy.
11. International visitors and external links
Classroom Games is available through the internet and may be accessed in countries with different privacy laws. Server infrastructure, email routing, and service providers may involve cross-border processing. Where specific international transfer safeguards are required, they must be assessed against the providers and arrangements in use.
Links to educational references or other websites are not controlled by Classroom Games. Review those websites’ notices before submitting personal information or enabling extra services.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when games, site tools, advertising settings, services, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest published revision. Material changes should be explained in an updated notice and, where required, communicated in another appropriate way.
